In the months since being enacted, the Affordable Care Act (also known as Obamacare) has significantly changed the landscape of healthcare system in the United States. Despite the efforts of the federal government, millions of Americans are still without health insurance.

While the jury is still out on whether the new law has been a success, it is clear that the nation is already experiencing the growing pains brought on by the Affordable Care Act. Not least of these growing pains is the effect the law has had on individuals' ability to purchase prescription medication.

Because of the fact that major corporations are cutting employee hours, dropping health in insurance for part time employees, or simply not hiring new workers, Obamacare has not brought health insurance to as many citizens as the President had anticipated.

For instance, earlier this year Daily Caller reported, "the popular retail company Target announced its decision to drop health insurance coverage previously offered to its 36,100 part-time employees." The company managed to do this because Obamacare only requires companies to offer health insurance to individuals who are employed for 30 hours per week or more. This is just one example of how the law has actually hurt citizens who it was created to help.

Luckily, there are some third party organizations helping to fill the gaps left by the imperfect new system. Specifically, there are some companies that offer services to employers so that they can help their employees save money on health insurance without having to purchase expensive insurance for each of their employees individually.

The National Drug Card Saving Club is an innovative alternative money saving healthcare platform that is enabling Americans who do not have access to health insurance the chance to receive considerable discounts to their health insurance and prescription drugs.

Alexander Acuna, Founder/CEO of the National Drug Card organization, told us, "Our savings club allows nonprofits of all sizes help their members, volunteers, and employees afford their healthcare, while at the same time generating residual income as a result of providing them with that service."

According to their website, The National Drug Card Saving Club's Free Discount Prescription Card "can save 10% - 85% on all FDA approved brand name and generic drugs." The site adds, "The card can be used at over 58,000 pharmacies nationwide."

The National Drug Card organization is based in Washington DC and was created specifically to aid "senior citizens on fixed incomes and Medicare; self-employed business-people who have to pay their own medical costs; families; college students; and those who have recently lost their jobs and benefits and may be struggling financially."

Alexander Acuna, the company's CEO, explained further, "If you can't afford healthcare because it has been dropped by your employer, a savings club is that resource that is going to step in and help these people save money on their healthcare, and help keep them afloat during this trying time. These people are going to need somewhere to go, and a healthcare savings club is able to [offer] just that."

Individuals and larger organizations alike can subscribe to the National Drug Card organization, making it a viable option for companies looking to help their employees or individuals looking to help themselves and their families.
